Share

The Turkish Grand Prix is set to return to the Formula 1 calendar in 2026, provided the government issues a guarantee.

The possibility of Turkey rejoining the Formula 1 calendar has recently become one of the most discussed topics in the motorsports community. Following statements by Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali, there have been critical developments regarding the potential return of the Turkish GP.

During the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend, which marked the final race of the 2024 Formula 1 championship, key meetings took place between Turkish ministers, organizers, and Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali. It was reported in the media that these discussions progressed in a highly positive manner.

Officials providing information on the matter stated that contacts with F1 management have yielded favorable results. However, a key procedure must be resolved for the Turkish GP to be included in the 2026 F1 calendar.

A local journalist, İlhan Tüysüz, highlighted that, to officially secure a place on the Formula 1 calendar, a letter of guarantee must be provided by the government within a month. If this letter of guarantee is issued, the return of the Turkish GP in 2026 will be confirmed. Otherwise, the process may be delayed or result in a negative outcome.
