Former F1 team boss Eddie Jordan stated that F1 should abolish DRS, describing the system as “fundamentally wrong” and a “ridiculous rule.”

DRS was introduced in 2011 to facilitate overtaking following the dull Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the end of the 2010 season. In that race, Fernando Alonso was unable to overtake Vitaly Petrov and lost the championship to Sebastian Vettel.

Jordan’s Criticisms

Jordan, on the other hand, expressed his criticisms of DRS in a stronger tone. Jordan, describing the system as directly “wrong,” compared DRS to a boxer having one hand tied behind their back:

“If everything artificial prevents the emergence of a dramatic and honest story, it is wrong.” DRS is fundamentally wrong. We watched an amazing race in Brazil.
